Tiki Torch Wicks

A tiki torch wick is a narrow strip of textile or a coarse yarn which are either dipped in liquid fuel or inject into the no combustible materials. Wicks are usually of made of cotton or fiberglass. A tiki torch wick consists of braided cotton yarn or fiberglass. Plaiting give the wick a flatter surface, making it easier for it to be incinerated completely. Before plaited wicks began, it was necessary to attend torches with a special cutter who had a container for the cut off wick.

The tiki torch wick absorbs fuel that can be ignited by for example a match or a sparking device such as a cigarette lighter. During the time fuel in the wicks top is incinerated more fuel is progressively sucked up into the wick. Adjusting the height of the flame can be easily achieved by adjusting the exposed portion of the wick itself.
