About Tiki Torches

Tiki torches add light, beauty and style to any tropical-themed backyard. There are a variety of tiki torches to ensure that you get just the look you want. A pair or a set of gas torches can instantly infuse any setting with a touch of tropical flare while the clean-burning oil lamps keep the setting virtually smoke and and scent free.

Tiki torches come in a variety of styles, but the most common type is made from bamboo or cane. At the top of the cane is a holder that has a plastic bottle. The lid of the bottle is fitted with a black metal top that has a thick wick of cord which hangs down into the tiki fuel. The exposed portion of the wick can burn for several hours. The torch can be lit and reused time and time again. The torch also has a small cap that is attached by a string. You can put out the flame of the tiki torch by placing the little cap over the top of the flame. Always leave the cap on the torch when you are not using it. This will protect the wik from moisture.

The tiki torch can be pushed deep down into the ground. Although, the fuel reservoir makes the torches top heavy, if you push the torch far enough into the ground it should not tip over when the wind blows. You could also get a hollow pipe and place the pipe deep into the dirt, then place the tiki torch into the pipe. This will definately make the torch more sturdy.

If you use your tiki torch very often, you will find that it uses alot of fuel. Here is a home solution that will cut your expenses. Make your own mixture of fuel for your torch that will last even longer than the fuel that you purchase. It is easy, all you do is combine alcohol with a common household item. Now remember burning alcohol by itself causes the torch to burn hot and fast, which will probably damage the torch. Wondering what that special around the house ingredient is? It is vegetable oil! All you do is mix the two ingredients together really well, then put the funnel into the reservoir. Pour in the fuel until the torch is almost full. Slide a new wick into the cap by twisting the end to make it narrow and sliding it through the opening. Trim the wick so it is long enough to go to the bottom of the fuel reservoir. Then just wait for about an hour. When the new wick fully absorbs the fuel, light the wick and your ready to go! Now you can use your torch in an even more inexpensive way!

There are several different torches that you have the option to choose from, such as, an outdoor torch, garden torch, party torch, patio torch, table-top torch, glass torch and many more. The torches come in many different colors and styles. You also have the option to choose between oil or natural gas torches.
